THERAPEUTIC MODALITY

Equine Psychotherapy

My work with horses begins with listening.

A relational, embodied approach

Our work unfolds on the ground and welcomes people with or without previous horse experience. Through embodied awareness, observation with all of the senses, movement, silence, conversation, and reflection, we begin to notice the patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves, to others, and to the more-than-human world.

Together, we enter a shared relational field where curiosity, presence, and dialogue become the foundation for exploration.

Listening to the body — Listening to the horse.

Listening to the subtle ways relationship reveals what is ready to emerge. This orientation shapes every aspect of my practice and reflects a deep trust that, when we slow down and pay attention, the psyche often begins to show us the next step.

Why horses?

As highly social herd animals, horses are remarkably attuned to nonverbal communication. They perceive subtle changes in posture, breathing, muscle tension, attention, and emotional congruence, often responding before words are spoken.

Research suggests that interactions with horses can support nervous
system regulation, reduce stress, and deepen emotional awareness, offering a physiological foundation for what many people experience in the presence of horses.

My approach and training

My role is to accompany you with deep, heartfelt presence while creating the conditions for genuine dialogue between you, the horse, and the larger field of relationship that holds us all. Together, we cultivate a deeper understanding and acceptance of ourselves, allowing new possibilities to emerge with greater freedom, integrity, and care.

My approach has been shaped by certification in Equine Assisted Learning with Rosemary Riggs of Shakti Ranch, liberty concepts from Carolyn Resnick's Naked Liberty and learning modules, my ongoing relationship with my Mustang mare, Mirage, and my current training and mentorship in Equine Facilitated Applied Modality with Güliz Ünlü and Matisse Williams.

Above all, it continues to be shaped by the horses themselves, who continually teach me about presence, humility, reciprocity, and the art of listening.
